PODCAST
Nichole sits down with some of your favorite artists and songwriters for in depth conversations about the writing process, spirituality and life. Coming 2021!
It’s been two decades since Nichole Nordeman, living in Los Angeles, waiting tables and trying to identify some clear path forward for her music, reluctantly entered a songwriting competition sponsored by the Gospel Music Association. Nine Dove Awards, a Grammy nomination and six number one singles later, she continues to marvel at the idea that she still gets to do what she loves most.
“I really don’t ever take for granted that God is still giving me new songs to sing,” she says. “My career looks so much different than it used to. I was so fortunate to be on the same label (Capitol Christian Music Group) for almost twenty years, and worked with some of the most gifted and supportive people imaginable. Without a doubt, they sowed into my life and songs, and prepared me for independent artistry, now. It’s been a thrill to spread my wings and get to venture into music making, on my own. There’s a lot left to create.”
Nordeman teamed up with Michael Gungor to produce her first ever independent full length release, Fragile, this past Christmas. “An absolute dream,” she says of the experience.
These days, she splits her time on the road, performing for various gatherings, churches and fund raisers as well as the occasional house show, named The Living Room Tour. “I’ve sung on every size stage imaginable, from arenas to coffee houses, and I can tell you that some of the most beautiful memories I carry, are from doing concerts right in people’s living rooms,” she says. “Swapping stories and songs, and reimagining what gathering around the table of Jesus is really meant to look like.”
I’m so excited to share my new music, favorite things, tour schedule and life with you here!

She has also recently launched a one on one online songwriting coaching program called Song School with Nichole Nordeman. “Getting to mentor another new or experienced writer through a certain song, or even a season, has been incredibly rewarding. Helping somebody find that elusive spark of an idea, they’ve been searching for or handing them some new tools they didn’t have…it’s been really beautiful.”
When she is not performing, writing or coaching, you can find Nichole leading worship on Sunday mornings at First United Methodist Church in Tulsa, OK, where she serves as the Minister of Worship Arts. Her children Charlie and Pepper bring her endless joy, as does their puggle, Tiger.
